Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, cut up
  • 2 lb. round steak (1/2-inch cubes)
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. marjoram leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 c. Burgundy
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced

Directions

    Cook bacon in Dutch oven until crisp, then remove.

    Shake steak with flour and brown in bacon drippings.

    Add bacon, salt, marjoram, thyme, pepper, onion, garlic, bouillon and wine.

    Heat to boiling, then cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

    Add mushrooms and simmer 10 minutes.

    Serve with crusty rolls for dunking.
