Beef-Filled Macaroni Shells

- 1 pkg. large macaroni shells
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/3 c. chopped onion
- 3/4 c. catsup
- 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 3/4 tsp. chili powder
- 3/4 tsp. garlic salt
- shortening for deep frying
- sweet pickle slices
Directions

1Cook macaroni shells as directed on package, using maximum cooking time.

2Drain, rinse with cool water.

3Arrange on paper towels to dry.

4While shells are cooking, cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet until done.

5Drain off fat.

6Stir in catsup, mustard, chili powder and garlic salt.

7Heat.

8Heat shortening to 365° and fry several shells at a time for about 2 minutes or until golden brown; turn once during frying.

9Drain on paper towels.

10As shells are fried, spoon about 1 tablespoon warm filling into each fried shell.

11Garnish with a sweet pickle slice. Serve warm.

12Makes 3 to 5 dozen appetizers.
