- 1 lb. stew beef
- 6 medium potatoes
- 6 medium carrots
- 3 stalks (stems) celery
- 1 medium onion
- 1/2 c. flour (season with salt and pepper; optional)
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions

1Cut beef into 1-inch cubes.

2Coat with flour.

3Heat oil in frying pan.

4Brown coated beef, 1/4 at a time.

5Cut vegetables into 1 to 2-inch pieces.

6Combine all prepared ingredients in a 5-quart Dutch oven.

7Fill with water, just enough to cover.

8Bring to a slight boil.

9Cover and simmer 1 to 3 hours (the longer the better).

10Season to taste.
