  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 qt. whole kernel corn
  • 1 qt. sweet peas
  • 3 large potatoes, cut up
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 6 c. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt or to taste
  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. chunk beef

    Brown the beef.

    Place all of the ingredients except the paste in a 6-quart souper pot at 400°.

    Cover and let boil about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Add meat and more water, if needed.

    Cover and boil another 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add tomato paste and turn down; let simmer for 15 minutes.
