Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. boneless stew beef
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 3 Tbsp. Heinz 57 sauce
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 potatoes, cut into chunks
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 carrots, sliced

Directions

    Sprinkle beef with salt, pepper and sugar.

    Brown in Crisco. Mix bouillon cubes in water.

    Add to beef.

    Simmer, covered, for 1 hour.

    Add 57 sauce and vegetables; simmer for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender. Thicken broth with a small amount of flour and water mixture.
