  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon or 1 Tbsp. sticks (4 sticks)
  • 1 tsp. cloves or 1 Tbsp. whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice or 1 Tbsp. whole
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 lemon, sliced thin

Directions

    Cook until lemon is tender.

    Cook and skin beets and cut into pieces.

    Put in syrup and heat until boiling.

    Put into hot jars. Makes beets very shiny.
