- 1 1/2 c. unbleached white flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. oil
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 2/3 c. light molasses (Grandma's)
Directions

1Stir together flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon and salt; set aside.

2In a mixing bowl, beat remaining ingredients until well blended.

3Stir in flour mixture for about 25 strokes just until moistened.

4Turn into well greased 8-inch square pan.

5Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

6Cool on a rack 10 to 15 minutes.

7Serve warm with whipped cream or lemon curd.
