Ingredients
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Sift flour; combine with baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Add milk all at once.

4Stir until mixture clumps together. Knead gently on a floured surface for 10 to 12 strokes.

5Roll or pat to 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut with biscuit cutter.

7Transfer to ungreased cookie sheet.

8Brush tops of biscuits with milk.

9Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.

10Makes 10 to 12 biscuits.
