Bishop Asbury Pound Cake

- 4 sticks butter, softened
- 4 c. sugar
- 10 eggs, at room temperature
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 c. sifted cake flour (may use 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Grease and flour a 12-cup tube pan. Cream together butter and sugar using a heavy-duty electric mixer. Add eggs one at a time and with the mixer running continuously at medium speed, add lemon juice and vanilla.

3Finally, add the flour a little bit at a time.

4Pour thoroughly mixed batter into prepared pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until a straw test shows that it is done.

5Remove to a rack to cool about 15 minutes, then turn out onto the rack.
