- 1 c. white syrup
- 1 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 c. black walnut kernels
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. soda
Directions

1Combine syrup, sugar and water in large skillet or saucepan. Bring slowly to 230° (or soft ball stage without candy thermometer).

2Add walnuts and continue cooking to 300°. Stirring constantly, remove from heat; add butter, vanilla, soda and salt.

3Stir until well blended.

4Pour into well-buttered cookie sheet.

5When cooled completely, break into pieces.

6Makes 1 1/2 pounds.
