  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. black walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sweet milk

    Cream butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Mix together dry ingredients.

    Add to creamed mixture alternating with the milk.

    Add flavoring and nuts. Batter will be very stiff.

    Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
