  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 c. blackberries (canned or frozen)

    Grease and flour two 8-inch or 9-inch layer pans.

    Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs.

    Sift together flour, soda and nutmeg.

    Add blackberries to creamed mixture.

    Add dry ingredients and mix well.

    Pour into pans.

    Bake in moderate oven at 350° for 35 minutes until done.
