  • 4 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. berry juice
  • 1 c. blackberries
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar until smooth.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Sift flour, soda and spices together.

    Add alternately with juice.

    Use mixer for above.

    Add berries by hand.

    Bake in three 9-inch cake pans at 350° until brown.
