Bleached Raisin Irish Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. bleached (white) raisins
  • 1/2 c. currants
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. butter

Directions

    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

    Sprinkle a little over the raisins and currants.

    Cut in butter with a pastry blender, then add eggs (beaten) and milk.

    Turn onto floured board and mold into round loaf.

    Place in greased skillet and bake 1 hour in a 350° oven.

    Keeps for several days and is good for tea sandwiches.
