Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 c. cake flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 Tbsp. milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. whipping cream
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 pkg. instant pudding

Directions

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Cream the butter. Add sugar with the 4 egg yolks, one at a time. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add to butter mixture alternating with the 5 tablespoons milk. Spread into paper lined, greased round cake pans.

    Beat 4 egg whites very stiff and add 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Spread meringue on top of each cake pan.

    Bake 30 to 40 minutes.

    Keep checking after 30 minutes.

    Cool. Remove from pans and take paper off. Beat cream, milk and pudding together.

    Place one layer upside down and spread with pudding.

    Place second layer meringue side up on top. Can add fresh strawberries (cut up) or raspberries in middle.
