Ingredients

  • 2 34 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups fresh blueberries
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 14 cup flour
  • 14 cup butter, very cold
  • 12 teaspoon cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 350F.

    Butter and flour 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

    Cut the cold butter for the topping into small cubes and put back in the refrigerator to keep cool.

    Sift the dry ingredients for the cake together.

    In a large bowl, mix together all the wet ingredients for the cake, except for the blueberries.

    Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until incorporated (an electric mixer is NOT necessary, I used a wooden spoon).

    Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the blueberries on top.

    Using your fingers crumble the topping ingredients in a small bowl.

    This will not combine completely, there should be small beads of butter throughout the dry ingredients.

    Break the butter up as small as possible.

    Sprinkle the topping over the top of the cake.

    Bake for about 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean.

    Cake should not be dry.
