Ingredients

  • 5 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 c. All-Bran
  • 2 c. 40% Bran Flakes
  • 5 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 qt. buttermilk

Directions

    Dissolve the baking soda in 2 cups boiling water.

    Set aside to cool.

    With electric mixer, cream butter and sugar and beat in eggs.

    Stir in by hand the remaining ingredients.

    Finally, stir in soda water.

    Keep batter in refrigerator.

    Bake in muffin pan for 30 minutes at 375°.

    Batter will keep for about 1 month.

    This is also good with pecans or raisins added as you start to bake.
