  • 2 c. 100% bran or bran buds
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 qt. buttermilk
  • 4 c. All-Bran

Directions

    Combine 2 cups bran and boiling water; set aside.

    Cream together until fluffy the shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together the flour, soda and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, then add the buttermilk.

    Stir in the All-Bran and add hot bran mixture.

    Blend. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.

    This mixture keeps in refrigerator for 6 to 8 weeks.
