  • 3 c. scalded milk, heated almost to boiling point
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 5 heaping Tbsp. Crisco (2/3 c. melted)
  • 7 to 8 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. salt (scant)

Directions

    To the scalded milk add the sugar in a large bowl.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Add the yeast and stir well to dissolve.

    Add eggs and melted shortening.
  5. 5
    Slowly stir in the flour and salt.

    Let rise at room temperature for 2 hours.
