  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 slices white bread
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • enough milk just to moisten bread

Directions

    Mix all ingredients and cook on top of stove until thick. Pour in ovenproof bowl.

    Top with meringue and brown.

    This is a good way to use up old bread.
