  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/2 c. whole milk
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. stale bread, cut in cubes (crust removed)
  • 1 1/2 c. milk (can combine evaporated and regular)
  • 1/4 c. raisins (if desired)

Directions

    Combine sugar, salt, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/2 cup evaporated milk, eggs and vanilla.

    When smooth, add bread cubes and 1 1/2 cups milk.

    Stir in raisins, if desired.

    Pour into greased baking dish; sprinkle top with nutmeg or cinnamon-sugar.

    Bake at 325° for 45 minutes or until done.
