- 3 c. milk, scalded
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- cinnamon or nutmeg (if desired)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
- 4 slices 2 day-old bread, broken into pieces
Directions

1Soak raisins in cup of hot water.

2Heat milk.

3When tiny bubbles appear, place bread crumbs into milk.

4Break eggs into blender.

5Add sugar, salt and vanilla; blend.

6When the bread has softened, drain raisins and add.

7Also add the egg mixture.

8Place in casserole.

9Place a glob of butter in center.

10Set casserole pan in baking pan filled with water.

11Fill to 1-inch from top of casserole dish.

12Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.

13Serve warm or cold.
