- 3 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 3 slices bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. raisins
Directions

1Scald milk and butter in top of double boiler over boiling water.

2Cut bread into 1/2-inch cubes.

3Add to milk.

4Cover and remove from heat.

5Beat eggs until frothy.

6Add sugar and salt. Stir hot milk and bread into egg mixture.

7Add nutmeg, vanilla and raisins, mixing well.

8Pour into 1 1/2-quart casserole or baking dish.

9Place in pan of hot water.

10Bake at 350° about 1 hour or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

11Makes 6 servings.
