- 2 c. dry bread cubes (more than 2 c.; will have to experiment)
- 4 c. milk, scalded
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 slightly beaten eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- nutmeg (to sprinkle on top)
Directions

1Soak bread in milk five minutes; add butter, salt and sugar. Pour slowly over eggs; add vanilla and mix well.

2Pour into greased baking dish.

3Bake in pan of hot water in moderate oven at 350° until firm, about 50 minutes.

4One-half cup of raisins may be used if desired.

5It may be served warm with Lemon Sauce if desired. Sprinkle nutmeg on top.
