Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 8 slices well toasted bread (dark or multi-grain bread is good)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter (more if needed)
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 3 c. milk, scalded
  • cinnamon as you like (a little or a lot)

    Toast bread.

    Butter while hot.

    Cut or break in pieces. Cover bottom of 9 x 11-inch baking dish with toast.

    Sprinkle with raisins.

    Stir salt and all but 2 tablespoons sugar into the beaten eggs.

    Add milk and stir to mix well.

    Pour over toast and let stand 10 minutes.

    Press toast into milk to soak up the liquid.

    Mix cinnamon and remaining sugar (use a little more sugar if you like it real sweet).

    Sprinkle over top.

    Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
