  • 2 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. raisins (if desired)

Directions

    Soak bread crumbs in scalded milk until soft.

    Beat eggs until light.

    Add sugar, salt, nutmeg, vanilla and raisins.

    Mix thoroughly with bread mixture.

    Pour into greased baking dish and set in pan of hot water.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.

    (Can be topped while hot with vanilla pudding, either instant or cooked.)
