- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 or 3 whole cloves
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1/2 lemon, cut with peel on
- 6 medium cooking apples
Directions

1Combine all ingredients except apples; bring to a boil.

2Pare apples, core, cut in eights and add to syrup.

3Cook slowly until done, 5 to 8 minutes.

4Remove from heat and cool in syrup.

5Remove spices and lemon.

6Serves 4.
