  • 8 slices bread, cubed and crusts removed
  • 1 lb. pork sausage, cooked, crumbled and drained
  • 1 1/2 c. fresh mushrooms, sauteed
  • 2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 soup can milk
  • 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. melted margarine

Directions

    Mix bread crumbs with margarine.

    Place bread cubes in an 8 x 12-inch baking dish.

    Add sausage, mushrooms and cheese.

    Mix eggs, 2 1/2 cups milk and mustard.

    Pour over ingredients in casserole. Refrigerate overnight.

    The next day, bring to room temperature. Mix soup with 1/2 can milk.

    Pour over casserole.

    Cover with crumbs.

    Bake in preheated oven at 325° for 75 minutes.
