- 3 c. rolled oats
- 2 c. white flour
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 c. raisins, nuts, wheat germ (optional)
Directions

1Hand mix the first 7 ingredients in a large bowl.

2Cut butter or margarine into mixed ingredients.

3Gradually add buttermilk into mixture until you have a stiff dough.

4Add optional ingredients if you desire.

5Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.

6Flatten slightly and brush with buttermilk. Bake 12 minutes at 375°.
