Ingredients

  • 3 c. rolled oats
  • 2 c. white flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. raisins, nuts, wheat germ (optional)

Directions

    Hand mix the first 7 ingredients in a large bowl.

    Cut butter or margarine into mixed ingredients.

    Gradually add buttermilk into mixture until you have a stiff dough.

    Add optional ingredients if you desire.

    Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.

    Flatten slightly and brush with buttermilk. Bake 12 minutes at 375°.
