  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk or water
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

    Sift flour and baking powder 3 times.

    Cream butter and sugar. Add flour alternately with milk.

    Beat after each addition.
