Broccoli-Cheese Bake

  • 1 (16 ounce) packagechopped broccoli
  • 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine
  • 14 cup flour
  • 12 teaspoon cheese flavored popcorn salt
  • 2 cups milk (I use skim)
  • 6 -8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 cups onions, chopped (either frozen or fresh heated in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes)
  • 34 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 13 cup french fried onions

Directions

    Cook broccoli according to package directions (I always to mine in the microwave) and drain.

    Place broccoli in a 2-quart casserole dish.

    Melt butter over low heat in saucepan.

    Stir in flour and simmer 2-3 minutes.

    Gradually add milk and continue to heat until sauce has thickened, stirring constantly.

    Add cream cheese and blend until smooth.

    Remove from heat and stir in onions.

    Pour mixture over broccoli in casserole dish.

    Sprinkler cheese and fried onions.

    Bake at 350*F for 35-40 minutes.
