Broccoli Soup

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 6 c. water
  • 3 tsp. chicken bouillon granules
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. half and half
  • 8 oz. American cheese, cut up

Directions

    In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, saute onion in butter for 5 minutes.

    Reduce heat to medium.

    Stir in flour until completely blended.

    Add water, bouillon granules, garlic powder and pepper; stir.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.

    Add broccoli and milk.

    Simmer for 10 minutes or until broccoli is done.

    Stir in half and half and cheese until cheese melts.

    Serve hot.
