Ingredients

  • 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour (plain)
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa (regular type, dry)
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. cocoa (regular type, dry)
  • 1 3/4 c. hot water

    Sift first 5 ingredients; add milk, oil and vanilla.

    Mix until smooth.

    Stir in nuts.

    Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.

    Combine remaining ingredients; pour over batter. Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes.
