- 1/2 lb. butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. flour
- pinch of cinnamon
- 1 c. chopped nutmeats or raisins (optional)
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1In top of deep double boiler, put butter and chocolate; melt and blend together.

2Turn off heat and add sugar (use only 1 1/2 cups if you want a little more chocolaty brownie).

3When slightly cooled, add eggs and beat well.

4Add scant cup of unsifted flour and beat well.

5Add a bit of cinnamon, real vanilla and salt; mix well.

6Add chopped nuts or some raisins, if desired.

7Turn into greased 9 x 12-inch pan.

8For soft-type brownies, bake at 325° for 40 minutes.

9For chewy ones, bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
