Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. chicken, cut up
  • 1 to 2 lb. pork shoulder, cut up
  • 1 lb. beef stew in 3-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 qt. water
  • 1 (1 lb. 13 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen lima beans
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen butter beans
  • 4 large white potatoes
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 3 to 4 c. frozen cut corn
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen okra
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Place chicken, meats and onion in large pot.

    Add water; simmer gently for 2 hours.

    Add next 5 ingredients; simmer 1 hour longer, stirring often.

    Add celery, corn, okra and seasonings. Cook another half hour, stirring often, until mixture thickens. Remove loose bones.

    Add butter and stir well.
