Ingredients

  • 1 whole Large White Onion
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cups Hot Buffalo Sauce (franks Recommended)
  • 1/2 cups Corn Flakes
  • 1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1 ounce, weight Dry Ranch Seasoning
  • 1/2 cups Egg Whites
  • 1 Tablespoon Tabasco Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • Ranch Dressing, To Serve

Directions

  1. 1
In a casserole dish, combine onions, buttermilk and Buffalo sauce.
  2. 2
Allow to soak for about 2 hours.
  3. 3
Place corn flakes in a food processor and pulse until they are fine crumbs.
  4. 4
Mix corn flakes, bread crumbs and ranch seasoning in a medium-sized bowl.
  5. 5
In another bowl, mix egg whites and Tabasco hot sauce.
  6. 6
Put the wheat flour in a separate bowl.
  7. 7
Take each onion and dip in the flour, followed by dipping the same onion in the egg whites and then finally in the bread crumb mixture.
  8. 8
Place onion rings on a baking sheet fitted with a baking rack (I actually use a cooling rack) so the onions cook evenly.
  9. 9
Once all the onions are dipped, spray lightly with cooking spray.
  10. 10
Bake at 450 degrees F for 10-15 minutes, flipping onions halfway through cooking.
  11. 11
    Serve warm with ranch dressing.
