Butter Roca(Candy)

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
  • semi-sweet chocolate (bits are okay)

Directions

    Melt butter in 2-quart pan. Remove from heat and blend in sugar.

    Cook until mixture bubbles. Add water and syrup and cook to 290° (use candy thermometer). Stir in nuts.

    Pour on lightly buttered cookie sheet or marble slab.

    Cool to room temperature. Keep loosening with spatula to prevent sticking.

    Melt 1/2 of the chocolate or chocolate bits.

    Spread on top side of candy.

    When chocolate is firm, turn underside up and spread with remaining chocolate.

    When chocolate is completely firm, break candy into pieces.

    Store in airtight container. Delicious!

    Tastes like Heath bar candy.
