  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • vanilla
  • 1 beaten egg

Directions

    Mix flour and shortening. Add buttermilk and mix. Add enough flour to work as a biscuit dough. Roll out in 2 portions real thin and cut in squares. Cut butter into small pieces and put 4 or 5 pieces on each dough square. Cover with sugar and drops of vanilla. Roll and pinch sides and ends. Put in buttered baking dish and bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes until brown.
