- 4 3/4 c. flour
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs
Directions

1Combine 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast.

2Heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt until warm (115° to 120°), stirring constantly until shortening almost melts.

3Add to dry mixture; add eggs. Beat at low speed for 1/2 minute.

4Beat at high speed for 3 minutes.

5By hand, stir in 2 to 2 1/4 cups flour.

6Knead for 5 to 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

7Put in a greased bowl to rise.

8Cover; let rise until double (about 2 1/4 hours).

9Punch down.

10Divide in thirds.

11Let rest 10 minutes.

12Roll into a 12-inch circle.

13Brush with butter or margarine.

14Cut in 12 wedges and roll into crescent shape.

15Let rise 1 hour.

16Bake in 400° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
