Buttermilk Biscuits With Variation

- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. butter or margarine
- 3/4 to 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl.

2Cut in butter with a fork or 2 knives until mixture is crumbly.

3Stir in 3/4 cup buttermilk all at once.

4Add more buttermilk if needed to make a soft dough.

5Knead dough gently about 10 minutes on a lightly floured board.

6Pat or roll dough about 1/2 inch thick.

7Cut dough with a knife into squares. Place biscuits on a baking sheet.

8Brush tops with a little buttermilk.

9Bake in a preheated 450° oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
