Buttermilk Dinner Rolls

  • 1/2 large compressed yeast
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. soft butter or part shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 or 6 c. flour

Directions

    Add crumbled yeast and sugar to lukewarm buttermilk.

    Let stand 10 minutes.

    Add melted butter, salt and soda.

    Beat well and add half the flour and unbeaten eggs.

    Beat well.

    Add remaining flour to make a stiff dough.

    Let rise until double in bulk.

    Shape in rolls.

    Let rise again.

    Grease muffin pans good. Bake at 325° for 20 minutes.
