  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) butter, melted
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 pint buttermilk
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
  • 1 lb (.5 kg) self-rising flour

    Add butter and egg to buttermilk.

    Mix well then add dry ingredients.

    Mix to soft dough.

    Turn out on floured surface.

    Knead lightly.

    Cut off pieces of dough and flatten by hand.

    Prick with fork.

    Bake at 400 degrees (200 C.) F. 10 to 15 minutes.
