Cabbage Casserole

  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 1/2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. sharp shredded cheese
  • 3/4 c. chopped celery
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/3 c. bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Shred cabbage and cook in a small amount of water with the green peppers and celery, about 5 minutes in a Dutch oven on top of stove.

    Cook garlic in melted butter.

    Mix the garlic butter mixture in with the vegetables; also stir in the milk, cheese, salt and pepper.

    After mixing, spoon into a 2-quart baking dish.

    Cover with buttered bread crumbs and bake at 300° about 30 minutes. Yields 6 to 8 servings.
