- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups all-bran cereal
- 1/3 cup sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 1/2 cups finely grated carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
Directions

1MIX flour, cereal, sesame seeds, baking powder, cinnamon, allspice, baking soda and salt in large bowl.

2WHISK together egg, buttermilk, brown sugar, vegetable oil and molasses.

3STIR liquid mixture into dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

4Fold in carrots and dates.

5Spread evenly in greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

6Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes or until centre springs back when gently touched.

7Cool on rack.

8Cut into bars.
