  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 c. diced celery
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (15 1/2 oz.) can kidney beans, undrained
  • 2 c. mashed potatoes

Directions

    Cook and stir in meat in Dutch oven until light brown.

    Spoon off fat.

    Add onions, cabbage and celery.

    Cook and stir until vegetables are light brown.

    Stir in tomatoes and seasonings. Cover tightly; simmer 15 minutes.

    Stir in beans (with liquid); heat until mixture boils.

    Simmer uncovered 15 to 20 minutes.

    Top stew with mashed potatoes.
