  • 2 c. rice
  • 3 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 2 (2 lb.) heads cabbage
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. pork sausage
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. oregano

Directions

    Cook rice in water with salt.

    Combine tomato juice, sugar, pepper, garlic powder and oregano.

    Pour into large roaster. Cut out core of cabbage and cook in kettle to half cover cabbage. Leaves can be cut away and removed as they get tender.
