Ingredients

  • 1 pound pinto beans bag dry
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon basil ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 ham hock

    Soak beans in cold water for 12 hours to clean the beans

    Combine all spices together into zip lock bag and shake well to blend all together

    Once beans are cleaned mix into your slow cooker or pot
  4. 4
    Mix in 4 cups of water
  5. 5
    Mix your spices into the pot with your beans and water
  6. 6
    Add the ham hock (this isn't necessary but adds much more flavor)

    Cook for at least 5 hours or until beans are tender as you'd like.

    Serve with cornbread or whatever sides you'd like!
