- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- pinch of salt
- 6 to 8 apples
- 3/4 to 1 stick margarine or butter
Directions

1Cook water and sugar to a thick syrup.

2Peel and quarter apples and put in pan.

3Add pinch of salt; pour syrup over apples.

4Slice margarine or butter over apples.

5Add 1/4 cup of red cinnamon candy hearts before cooking.

6This makes apples a pretty red color and adds flavor.

7Cook on top of stove on medium-low until clear (20 to 35 minutes).

8(Apples may be baked in a 350° oven about 45 minutes, but tend to be slightly watery.)

9Make in a 9 1/2-inch round pan. Serves 8.
