Candied Walnut Halves

  • 3 c. walnut halves
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Place the walnut halves in a shallow pan; heat in oven at 325° for about 10 minutes.

    Cook the sugar, water, cinnamon and salt to soft ball stage (236°) without stirring.

    Remove from heat.

    Add the vanilla.

    Add nuts; stir gently until all nuts are covered and mixture is creamy.

    Turn out onto a buttered platter.

    Separate nut halves as they cool.
