- 3 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. milk
- red food color
- 1/2 tsp. peppermint or almond extract
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

2Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl.

3Beat in egg and extract.

4Add flour mixture alternately with milk.

5Spoon half of dough into another bowl and tint pink.

6Pinch off a teaspoon of each dough.

7Roll each into pencil thin strips about 5 inches long. Place side by side and pinch ends together.

8Twist and place

9on ungreased cookie sheets, bending into cane shape.

10Bake at 350°

11for 10 minutes.
